Climate Change

Blue Ocean helps people understand what we can do–and what we must do–to reverse the greatest environmental threat to our ocean planet. As climate change blurs the boundaries between sea, sky, and land, so must conservation strategies.

Our unique vision is to create a comprehensive conservation program that incorporates a true land-sea ethic: viewing the ecosystem as a whole from the mountaintops to the reefs. We do this by developing projects within our Climate Change program that result in scientific, cultural, and creative solutions.  Our projects raise awareness, inspire action, and provide the scientific information necessary to aid political, social, and management decisions that will lead to more sustainable conservation of ocean ecosystems. We share information with business leaders, the faith community, legislators, and the general public, stressing how climate change alters ocean chemistry, and how that affects ocean habitats and life in the sea.

As part of the program, our Friendship Collaborative brings together scientists and evangelical Christian leaders in face-to-face conversations about climate change and our collective moral responsibility to care for creation.
