Mercédès Lee is a co-founder of Blue Ocean Institute. Ms. Lee created and edited the book, Seafood Lover's Almanac, an award-winning 120-page full-color volume designed to help seafood lovers become more familiar with the fish they eat. She produced National Audubon Society’s "Footsteps in the Sea: Growing up in the Fisheries Crisis," an educational documentary video for young adults which won the Bronze Apple Award, an Honorable Mention in the Columbus International Film and Video Festival, and was finalist in the International Cindy Awards.
Ms. Lee is author of numerous articles on energy and the environment, natural history, conservation, and green architecture. She served as researcher and columnist for American Birds and as principal writer for the book Audubon House, published by John Wiley & Sons. Ms. Lee is former editor of Audubon Adventures, an education publication for teachers and children in grades 3-6. She served as co-chair of the Marine Stewardship Council’s Stakeholder Council public interest sector and also served as a member of the Board of Directors of the MSC.
Ms. Lee has a Bachelor's degree in geology from Denison University, and has won awards for her photography and has had her mixed-media art selected for exhibition. In her free time she is a ceramic artist.
